Vindicated at Last!

Here’s another thing I like  - when science justifies your bad habits and confirms your half formed theories. I have just been reading about a book which says having a messy desk encourages creativity. The book quotes Einstein who is reputed to have said:
"If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk?"

It also points to the wonderful chance connections which have been made as a result of random distribution of materials and the increased productivity that sometimes results from having all materials close at hand.

Since I am fighting the war on entropy on all fronts, this is great news. "Say yes to mess" indeed.
Should you need to support for your own lack of organisation, the book is called "The Perfect Mess: The Hidden Benefits of Disorder" by Eric Abrahamson and David H. Freedman (Little, Brown and Company).

Furthermore, the British Medical Journal has not one, but two studies showing that people who drink a couple of glasses of wine per day have lower risks of coronary heart disease and stroke than non -drinkers, so here's cheers to you all.

The other bit of good scientific news is that laughing helps you to lose weight. Mind you, it's got to be real laughter - no faking, so keep those jokes coming.
Go Science!
