More and more movies are about Climate Change in various forms. Some I have watched lately include the very brilliant Danish mini -series "Families Like Ours" (2024) the prescient 2007 British Canadian Film "Flood," set in London and the French film "Green Tide."  "Families Like Ours" (SBS in Australia, CANAL in EU) - SBS links may not work outside Australia This was so good that I literally marathoned all 8 episodes, like a good book that you can't put down. It was about Denmark’s entire population having to be evacuated because of flooding and sea level rise. This is rather ironic because Denmark has prepared itself better than almost any country besides The Netherlands for just such an eventuality and has done more than most to mitigate against Climate Change too. In these dark times there are many people doing good work, yet many of our Honours do not reflect that.   Where are the Nobel Prizes for people like Jane Goodall, David Attenborough or Greta Thunberg, who have brought far more light into the world than many recipients of some of our awards? Going to add Francesca Albanese to that list! (03/01/2026). To remedy that situation I have begun making a list and I will start off by mentioning some of the more famous names which have made the headlines for their generosity in recent months. In Part II I want to acknowledge those who have consistently supported good causes over long periods and lastly, some of those whom we don’t hear much about, but who still make the world go round in small ways and large. It will certainly determine Australia’s future and our fate as a nation along with the other species with which we share it, so forgive me if   I’m a bit distracted until after the 21. st   Meanwhile, I see that the Philippines are likewise in the process of having elections. So many young people are keen to have a Marcos family member back. This is really depressing, because it means that they don’t know their history. Nor is it the only country where   the art of forgetting has taken place. Other countries such as Hungary and Brazil also seem to have forgotten the many struggles for democracy their people have endured. In the USA, attempts are under way to reverse the right of women to decide if they will bear a child or not. This too is a step back into darkness and misery. H...
